Description
This charming set of porcelain serving pieces features a classic hand-painted violet motif that was enormously popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, roughly 1890–1920. The delicate blue-purple violets with green trailing vines are rendered with soft, naturalistic artistry characteristic of the period's fine china painting tradition, often associated with German, Austrian, or early American porcelain studios. The set includes one large elongated celery or sandwich tray with pierced tab handles and multiple smaller individual serving pieces — a complete and cohesive grouping that speaks to a time when elegant entertaining was central to domestic life. The ivory-to-blush ground with gold edge trim reflects the restrained luxury of turn-of-the-century tableware design. Violet-decorated porcelain has a devoted collector following, and complete matched sets are increasingly scarce. This grouping would display beautifully in a china cabinet, complement a Victorian or cottage-style dining room, or serve as a centerpiece for an afternoon tea presentation.
Condition
GoodGold trim shows some wear on edges; one piece has a visible chip or crack near handle area; overall glaze intact with minor age-appropriate crazing possible. Decoration is vivid and well-preserved.
