Description
A beautifully crafted antique meerschaum pipe presented in its original fitted leather case with cream satin lining. The elongated stem features intricate hand-carved floral rose motifs arranged in repeating clusters along turned and tapered sections, demonstrating the exceptional craftsmanship associated with Turkish and Central European meerschaum artisans of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Meerschaum — derived from the German word for 'sea foam' — is a rare white mineral prized for producing the finest smoking pipes in the world. Carved meerschaum pipes were considered luxury objects and status symbols among European and American gentlemen, often presented as gifts or commissioned pieces. The amber mouthpiece is a hallmark of quality period pipes. The original fitted case is a rare survival and significantly adds to the collectibility of this piece. Collectors and pipe enthusiasts prize examples like this for display, as part of smoking memorabilia collections, or as decorative antiques. An exceptional find for any collector of Victorian-era gentlemen's accessories.
Condition
ExcellentPipe bowl and stem appear intact with no visible chips or cracks. Ornate carved stem with floral rose motifs is well-preserved. Amber mouthpiece shows typical yellowing. Original fitted leather case shows some wear and aging to the silk/satin lining but remains functional and presentable.
