Description
This beautifully crafted antique Catholic crucifix features a trefoil-ended cross design with lustrous mother of pearl inlay set within a brass frame — a hallmark of devotional craft production popular in France and Italy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The elegant quatrefoil petal detailing at each arm terminus reflects the Gothic Revival influence that was fashionable in religious objects of the period. The detailed cast metal corpus of Christ is finely rendered, capturing the solemnity and artistry characteristic of European Catholic devotional pieces. A Chi-Rho (ΧΡ) Christogram symbol appears at the base of the vertical arm, further underscoring the piece's liturgical significance and craftsmanship. This crucifix pendant would have been carried or worn as a personal devotional object or gifted at the time of First Communion or Confirmation — making it a deeply meaningful piece of religious heritage and a prized addition to any collection of antique Catholic artifacts.
