Description
This charming Victorian-era porcelain mug exemplifies the ornate decorative sensibility of the late 19th century. The richly embossed floral motif — featuring roses, leaves, and berry clusters rendered in high relief — reflects the period's love of naturalistic ornamentation, popular among English and Continental porcelain makers alike. The piece is adorned with a soft pink luster glaze on the footed base and inner rim, complemented by hand-applied gilt highlighting on the raised botanical details. The beaded border along the upper band adds an additional layer of elegance consistent with Victorian parlor aesthetics. A lovely example of decorative Victorian tableware, this mug would make a beautiful display piece in a china cabinet or alongside a collection of period teacups and saucers.
Condition
GoodMinor gilt wear on raised floral relief; no visible chips or cracks; luster glaze intact on base and rim. Made in Germany.
