Description
A beautifully matched two-piece antique oak hall set dating to the early 20th century, featuring unmistakable Art Nouveau styling throughout. The upper mirror panel showcases graceful carved scrollwork along the shaped crest, a central foliate medallion, and four original cast iron double coat hooks flanking the beveled mirror. The original mirror glass retains its authentic aged character, a hallmark of genuine period pieces. The lower coat rail is equally impressive, displaying five original white porcelain ball knobs set into a carved oak board with matching decorative scrollwork and an ornate acanthus leaf apron drop. Both pieces share the same warm honey-oak tone and carved detailing, confirming they were made and sold as a set — a rarity to find intact. This type of hall furniture was a staple of Victorian and Edwardian entryways, designed for the practical and stylish home. Today it is equally at home in a farmhouse entryway, a cottage mudroom, or as a statement piece in an eclectic interior. Collectors and decorators alike prize original matched sets like this one for their authenticity and functional beauty.
Condition
GoodMirror shows age-appropriate foxing and spotting typical of antique glass. Wood has warm patina with minor surface wear. Cast iron hooks show light oxidation. Porcelain knobs on lower rail have minor chips/discoloration consistent with age. Overall structurally sound.
