Description
Heckman - A rare find for the serious antique furniture collector — this piece carries an original Mahogany Association, Inc. certification label, Number 542, issued under penalty contract. The Mahogany Association, Inc. was a trade organization that guaranteed all exposed structural parts and plywood faces were constructed from genuine mahogany sourced exclusively from the West Indies, Tropical America, and West Coast Africa. This type of certification label dates this piece to the mid-20th century, when the Mahogany Association actively policed the use of the mahogany name in the American furniture market. Finding a piece with an intact, readable label is increasingly uncommon, making this a standout example of authenticated period American furniture. The rich warm tones of genuine mahogany are evident in the wood grain visible throughout. Collectors of American period furniture, mid-century design enthusiasts, and antique dealers will immediately recognize the significance of this certification — a true guarantee of material quality from an era when craftsmanship and authenticity were paramount.
