Description
This handsome wall regulator clock bears the signature of Mauthe (Friedrich Mauthe GmbH), one of Germany's most respected clockmakers, based in Schwenningen in the Black Forest region — the heartland of German clockmaking tradition. Mauthe clocks were prized throughout Europe for their precision movements and quality craftsmanship, and this example carries that legacy beautifully. The dark oak case features elegant hand-carved scrollwork across the decorative pediment crown, beveled glass panels on the lower pendulum door, and classic pilaster columns flanking the face — hallmarks of the refined Art Deco transitional style popular in the late 1920s through 1930s. The silvered dial displays bold Arabic numerals with blued steel hands, and the warm brass pendulum bob adds a striking visual contrast visible through the lower glass panel. This is a wonderful piece for collectors of European horology, Black Forest clocks, or antique oak furniture. It would make a distinguished statement in a study, library, or traditional living space, and represents a tangible connection to the golden age of German mechanical clockmaking.
Condition
GoodWood case appears solid with good patina; minor age-related wear expected. Glass panels intact. Clock face shows light aging but numerals are clear. Pendulum bob present. Some minor surface oxidation on brass bezel. Overall presents well for age.
