Likely dating to circa 1880–1900, pieces of this caliber were centerpieces of formal dining rooms in prosperous Victorian households, used to display fine china and silverware while providing generous storage. The superstructure is a showstopper in its own right, featuring an elaborately carved pediment with pierced lattice and scrollwork, flanked by carved acanthus leaf details and multiple beveled mirror panels — including two smaller side mirrors and a large shaped central mirror.
